On September 24, 2020, Diane Seltzer Torre will once again teach the D.C. Bar Continuing Legal Education Program, “It Didn’t Happen at Work – Can They Fire Me Anyway?” Employees engage in all kinds of off-duty conduct that can cause employers to wonder if they can fire their employees for their off-duty conduct.  Employers must be mindful of the legality of imposing consequences upon employees for their conduct outside the workplace.  This fast-paced class will address trending issues in this area, including terminations based on the employee’s social media posts, marijuana use, political activity, outside employment, romantic relationships with co-workers, tobacco use, support of LGBT rights and other social causes and issues, support for pro-choice or pro-life organizations, gun ownership, alcohol use, arrests, and more. A link to register will be posted here soon.
